Description: SOFtact Solutions (STS) is seeking an Operating Systems Instructor to join our team and provide instructional and Content Development Support for the Cyber School, Cyber Center of Excellence (CCoE), Fort Gordon, Georgia.  This position shall provide support through certified classroom instruction, cyber-lab technical support, operational testing, and curriculum validation IAW the requirements and deliverables of this acquisition and requires an experienced Network/Systems Administrator who will deliver formal classroom instruction on implementation, design, and administration of Local and Wide Area Networks.  The Operating Systems Instructor will perform the normal instructor duties associated with formal instruction including, but not limited to, preparing, maintaining, and securing the training environment.  Serves as an instructor for and provides support as required by conducting student evaluations and assessments.  This includes written examinations, quizzes, practical evaluations, and other training as required.  Additionally, the Operating Systems Instructor must have working knowledge of the Department of Defense’s implementation of commercial internet work technologies to support converged, multi-security enclave networks.  Duties may include routine system maintenance and analysis functions including hardware configurations; adding, removing, and replacing hardware components; use of hardware and software diagnostic testing tools; and cable infrastructure installation and maintenance.  This position requires a TS/SCI security clearance.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, STEM, related technical field or equivalent experience

Qualifications: 4-8 years of experience in Information Technologies related to Networks

Responsibilities:

  • Provide guidance pertaining to future course development and emerging technology trends
  • Conduct student evaluations and assessments as required
  • Provide input and develop customized official curriculum as directed
  • Supervise and perform maintenance of networks and systems
  • Troubleshoot LAN/WAN related problems and evaluate communications hardware and software
  • Plan, organize, document, and modify instructional methods and strategies in ways that maximize learning to meet diverse student needs
  • Employ available instructional technology, i.e., the internet, interactive technology, when appropriate

Required Skills:

  • Possess skills/knowledge of performing office automation work that includes word processing, electronic mail, spreadsheets, presentations, and other personal computer applications; typing a variety of materials from rough draft into final form including narrative and tabular material, e.g., correspondence, reports, and forms; maintaining records, historical records, survey results, reference library of training catalogs, regulations and other miscellaneous publications; establishing and maintaining office functional files and reference files; knowledge management applications e.g., SharePoint, Army training requirements and resources system (ATRRS), and Blackboard
  • Familiarization with U.S. military educational training and techniques
  • Experience in classroom Instructing and creating curriculum
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills and demeanor, written, verbal and in-person
  • Ability to work independently, maintain high quality work, manage multiple projects, and escalate issues appropriately
  • Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment
  • Comfortable with reverse engineering patches to discover the original vulnerabilities
  • Reading and understanding Requests for Comment (RFC)
  • Experience with taking an RFC for a networking protocol and creating a compliant implementation from scratch in Python or C
  • Knowledge in both the Linux API and Windows API (win32 & UWP)
  • Meet requirements of OS and Networking instructor qualifications
  • Proficiency in Python or Ruby and x86 assembly
  • Understand SDN

Preferred Skills:

  • Graduated the Support Cadre Training Course (SCTC) and either the Army Basic Instructor Course (ABIC) or the Foundation Instructor Facilitator Course (FIFC)
  • In-depth knowledge of operating system concepts such as processes, threads, context switching, user mode/kernel mode, synchronization, IO and CPU Scheduling and their associated algorithms, memory management, and filesystems
  • In-depth knowledge of network security and understanding of the networking features of Windows, GNU/Linux, and BSD
  • Able to complete both LFS and BLFS (Linux from Scratch/Beyond Linux from Scratch)
  • Networking expertise and experience equivalent to the CCIE-R&S or JNCIE-SP level
  • Networking from both the theoretical & practical perspectives
  • Deep and thorough understanding of Regular Expressions and Context-Free Grammars
  • Familiar with systems exploitation without the assistance of toolkits like Core Impact or MSF
  • Able to reverse engineer compiled executables to break encryption, retool functionality, and discover vulnerabilities
  • Able to perform exploit development on compiled executables to include defeating standard binary protections such as stack canaries
