Position Location: Fort Bragg, Fayetteville, NC

 

Description: SOFtact Solutions (STS) is seeking an intermediate to advanced-level IT Operations Engineer to join our team supporting IT operations for the Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC).  The IT Operations Engineer will maintain various network-monitoring technologies and applications including the Splunk IT Service Intelligence (ITSI) premium application.  The selected candidate will provide advanced experience in architecting and managing Splunk Core and Splunk ITSI.  They will work with customers to perform requirements-gathering sessions to develop the scope and design of new and existing dashboards, alerts, reports, and data sources.  This role will be responsible for translating the requirements into a working model and presenting it to the customer while also taking feedback for improvement.  They will work with the customer’s Splunk administrators to deploy their solution to make it available for all users.  The candidate must have robust Splunk experience and be able to work collaboratively with diverse end users and a geographically-distributed team.  This position requires a TS/SCI security clearance.

 

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, STEM, or related technical field or equivalent experience

 

Qualifications: 2+ years’ professional experience supporting and maintaining Splunk Enterprise

 

Responsibilities:

  • Working with business teams to perform requirements-gathering sessions to develop the scope and design of new and existing dashboards, alerts, reports, and data source
  • Understanding the business process flow as well as designing and developing an "End-to-End" business transaction visibility to include large-scale processing, integration, and analysis of system logs and database
  • Discovering and mining data to develop meaningful insights into IT Operations
  • Developing visualization dashboards and indicators that identify anomalous activities using statistical behavior models and machine learning
  • Performing maintenance and optimization of existing clustered Splunk deployments and distributing Splunk Enterprise implementations to large, complex customers
  • Integrating Splunk with a wide variety of legacy data sources and industry leading commercial security tools that use various protocols
  • Managing Splunk knowledge objects such as Apps, Dashboards, Saved Searches, Scheduled Searches, Alerts, and Glass Tables
  • Communicating with customer stakeholders to include leadership, support teams, and system administrators
  • Improving deployment performance and solving configuration and deployment issues to improve enterprise management of Splunk

 

Required Skills:

  • 7+ years of experience supporting IT systems or applications
  • Splunk IT Service Intelligence experience, including administration, and integration with backend systems
  • Experience with Agent deployment and configuration Management across a large enterprise
  • Creative problem-solving skills

 

Preferred Skills:

  • DoD 8570 Certification in the IAT Level II and/or obtain within six months
  • Certification in Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) and/or Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) and/or applicable certifications
  • 2+ years of experience supporting cloud-computing environments such as AWS, Azure, and GCP
  • Knowledge and experience with other enterprise network monitoring tools such as Solarwinds, vRealize Operations, SCOM, ServiceNow, Gigamon, and NetBrain
  • Experience with stream-processing software
  • Windows administration with Windows Server 2012R2 and/or Windows Server 2016
  • Scripting Languages: Linux bash shell, Python, PowerShell, and JavaScript a plus

  • Splunk Enterprise Certified Admin
  • Splunk IT Service Intelligence Certified Admin
